32 YEARS AND FAMILY GOALS

Every year on my birthday I take some time to write down a few goals for the upcoming year.  They’re not big goals, but having something in writing, and posted up where I can see it throughout the year helps me keep my focus and track my progress.  This past year we had some unexpected news.  We found out that we were expecting our fourth baby and all of the goals I made for the previous year (like doing five unbroken pull-ups before my 32 birthday) had to take a back seat.  What’s great about setting goals for myself is that even though life takes a few unexpected turns, I can always look back and feel motivated by my desire to grow and improve in certain areas of my life.

This past birthday, I set a few goals for my family and I.  I’m still very pregnant so things will probably move a little slower than usual, but we’re all hoping to get into a rhythm and take on our new family dynamic.

Today I am teaming up with  Purina ONE® to share with you some of our family’s goals!

  • Take a family vacation – This is definitely one of our top priorities this year.  Alex and I have talked about planning a yearly family camping trip with the kids.  Our goal is to pick a different state every year and spend some time outdoors, sleeping under the stars with our babies. We are really looking forward to starting that tradition up this year since our kids are old enough to travel for longer periods of time and hopefully remember our time together.
  •  Take family pictures –  I think the last time we took family pictures was when Emory was born.  We’re hoping to capture our family more often than once every three years.  We’re still figuring out the timing, but for sure a yearly family picture is a must.
  •  Focus on wholesome nutrition for the whole family –  Before getting pregnant we all successfully completed a whole 30.  We felt amazing and finally felt like we had our nutrition under control.  Because of the pregnancy, morning sickness and exhaustion, our nutrition has taken a left turn.  We still eat pretty healthy (for the most part) but can do better.  This year, the entire family is jumping back on the Whole 30 train and Bauer is cleaning up his nutrition as well. We’re giving him Purina ONE® because it’s formulated with high-quality real meat, poultry or fish to help support strong muscles and a healthy heart.  It also has no added fillers or artificial flavors and every ingredient has a purpose!  We started Bauer on the Purina One® 28-Day Challenge and already so excited about the difference we’ve seen.

  • Train for a family 5k – This was on our family goal list last year, but after getting pregnant, we had to put it on the backburner.  Grace has gotten really good at running and after seeing how amazing she did on our hiking trip to Utah, we’re really excited about seeing her lace up her running shoes.  Haddon, Emory, and the new babe are going to be in strollers for the run, but we are looking forward to taking on the challenge as a family. Of course, Bauer will also need to train for this run with us.  We know he’s going to love it!

  • Document the everyday moments– This is something I have been neglecting because of our busy schedules and maximum levels of exhaustion.  My goal this year is to take more pictures of our everyday moments and fill our Instagram, Facebook and this blog with more of the little moments that make our life so special.  I know for a fact that in the long run, those moments will mean more to me than anything else.

We pick up our Purina ONE® at Target, where we do most of our shopping.  It’s always fun walking down the isles with the kids and picking up everything we need from socks to Bauer’s food, to our orange juice.
