I love the month of May! All of our winter troubles are behind us and there’s nothing but green grass and flowers ahead.  It’s finally the month when we can confidently get outside, pull out our shorts and turn on our sprinklers.

The kids have been asking for some time now to go camping.  They watched Honey I Shrunk the Kids back in December and have been asking to sleep outdoors since then. Obviously, we didn’t camp out in the snow… although they probably would have loved it. Their dream came true last weekend when we finally brought out the tent and took our naps outdoors! Thank God for May!

They were beyond excited.  We packed a little lunchbox with some fruit, their pillows, a heavy-duty flashlight and our Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries.

It only took about five minutes to devour all of the snacks and it took forever to get them to fall asleep… but it was all worth it.

This was the first time Emory slept in a tent. She thought it was funny to run around in circles yelling “we’re trapped! we’re trapped!”

Haddon and Grace knew exactly what they were getting into and were just so excited to be in a tent outdoors.

This little guy was hilarious. He was the main reason the girls wouldn’t fall asleep.  He is always telling the funniest jokes and making faces at his sisters just to make them giggle.  It’s super cute.

The kids made me promise that this was just a practice for when we go camping “for real” in the “wilderness.”  So now I have to deliver.  We’re thinking about taking everyone out to our local state park for some “for real” camping.

Either way, one of the things we always bring with us when we pull out the tent, is our huge flashlight.  The tent can get pretty dark and this puppy shines super bright thanks to the  #1 Longest Lasting AA Battery and because it’s lightweight, it makes it easier for the kids to pick up the flashlight and tell their version of a not-so-scary ghost story.  We choose Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries because they are the #1 Longest Lasting AA Battery, they have a 20 year shelf life (AA/AAA only), they are 33% lighter vs alkaline batteries (AA/AAA only), are lightweight, they  perform in extreme temperatures -40F to 140F, they maintain peak performance and have a leak resistant construction. Yes!

This little guy and that half-eaten strawberry make me the happiest.

Camping these days are all about getting the kids excited, telling stories and building traditions.  I know one day we’ll look back on these days and have fond memories of our time in our backyard.

Here’s to camping, to building memories and to bright flashlights!

I picked up my Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ batteries at my local Baker’s.
