We have been looking forward to the first day of school for some time now. Grace is officially starting kindergarten and Haddon is convinced that he too will be starting school. During our school days, we like to have a routine to keep us focused and on track. This also works well for the kiddos at night. I’ve noticed that when Grace knows what to expect, our day and our evenings, run much smoother.

Our morning routines are a little different for Grace and for Haddon. They both wake up at the same time, but they have different tasks throughout the day that are tailored to their school, their extra curricular activities and Haddon’s nap time. Their evening routines are identical, which makes things a whole lot easier for me.

I thought I’d share with you what our evenings look like and share a FREE printable for you to download and use with your kiddos.  This bedtime routine is super easy to follow and fun for the kids.  I like to print one out and use a sheet protector to slide the printable right in.  In the evenings, I let Grace and Haddon check off what they’ve done.  Giving them an opportunity to use dry erase markers always gets them really excited.

I don’t write down time slots for these, however, most days we start off our dinners around 5pm. The kids then jump in the shower, put on the pj’s and off we go. Because Alex doesn’t usually get home in time to catch the kids for dinner, we’ll all have a bedtime snack together. Sometimes we opt for warm milk, and others we pull out the kids favorite yogurt. These days, we’re snacking on Horizon® yogurt. We are big fans of Horizon® milk and when we heard that Horizon® came out with a yogurt, we knew it would be our top pick for our pre bedtime snack. I pick up my Horizon® yogurt at Walmart  and love it because it has live and active cultures and there are five different flavors to pick from. The kids can also eat right out the cup so that makes clean-up a breeze!

One of my favorite things about having this bedtime routine with the kids is that it makes life easier for me. There’s no asking what’s next or snacks or water for the fourth time. They know that we’ll start crossing things off our list and when it’s time for bed, there’s very little refusal.

Having a chart telling kids what to expect next is a great idea – especially when it includes Horizon yogurt cups for snacking! #client
