FOUR TIPS ON WORKING OUT WITH YOUR DOG

It’s no surprise that we are big fans of exercising. I often share workouts on the blog and on my Instagram sharing tips on how to squeeze in workouts throughout the day. Today I wanted to share how we exercise as a family and include our sweet doggy, Bauer.

Four tips on exercising with your dog

  1. Make it fun – exercising doesn’t have to be a chore or a planned out activity.  Tie your shoelaces, grab some water and go for it!
  2. Make it short – This is not the time to set out for a 5K run.  Some dogs are trained to run long distances. However, most are not.  When it comes to working out with your dog, it’s more about consistency than anything else.  10 minutes a day of running around is all you need to make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise.
  3.  Try new moves
    1. Running in circles- dogs do this all the time, so why not join them?  They’ll get a kick out of the company and you’ll get your heart rate up.
    2. Planks – Hold a one-handed plank and grab a ball with the other hand.  Play with your dog, while holding the plank.  This is a fun one!
    3. Monkey in the middle – This is a fun game that gets your dog to run back and forth.  With a partner, stand at opposite sides of a field and toss a ball for the dog to catch.  Have the dog run for the ball while the person at the opposite side competes with the dog to grab the ball.  In the meantime, the person who threw the ball can do air squats or burpees until it’s their turn to catch.
    4. Sprints- Give it all you have for sprint runs with your dog.  Start at one side of the yard, call your dog and make a run for the other side.  When you get there, make sure to pet and give your dog some love. Repeat 5x.
  4. Refuel – Exercising and eating well go hand in hand. These days, we are feeding Bauer Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Peak™ Wetlands Recipe™ with Chicken, Duck & Pheasant.  A few months ago, we changed up his food. PEAK is a protein-rich food for dogs with nutrient-dense meats, it contains 30% high-quality protein and 0% grains, glutens or fillers.  When we transitioned him to PEAK, we gradually incorporated it into his previous brand over the course of  7-10 days until we completely switched over. Check out the Nutrish PEAK website for more information and where to buy this wholesome and delicious product for your dog!

From time to time, we like to add Peak™ Wetlands recipe with Chicken & Duck in Rustic Gravy as a tasty topper for dry food. I love it because it’s made with high-quality real chicken, combined with protein-rich duck to help your pup thrive. You can pick yours up at PetSmart and use this coupon for additional savings.

Exercising is so important to us and so is taking care of our doggy which is why we trust Nutrish PEAK. They make their food and treats with simple, wholesome ingredients like real meat or fish, and no poultry by-product meal or fillers. Also, a portion of proceeds from each sale of Nutrish is donated to The Rachael Ray Foundation, which helps animals in need. Through December 2017, more than $23.5 million dollars have been donated to animal charities and other organizations that do good for animals.

The funds are used for food, medical supplies, treatments, and more. Many more animals around the country need help, and through The Rachael Ray Foundation, together we can make a real difference in the lives of many four-legged friends.
