The Six Musketeers Take NYC/ Part II

sarabeht NYCDay two was rainy! It was a bit of an adventure trying to squeeze under a tiny umbrella and dart to Sarabeth’s for breakfast, but it made for a fun story and good cardio.  We wanted to sit outside and people watch but thanks to the rain we were forced into a booth.  We weren’t complaining though.  The food was outstanding!

sarabeht NYCI had the lemon ricotta pancakes which I highly recommend. I also recommend the fluffy french toast!  After breakfast, we made our way to Gap for some rain jackets and some “light” shopping. I posted this picture on my instagram because I completely love it. Aren’t these ladies beautiful?

There was something so beautiful about rainy New York.  The streets glistened and and all the buildings sort of hummed along to the wind flowing in between them.  The rain didn’t really bother the locals either.  In Florida we all run for cover at the sight of some rain clouds, but here people just pull up their stylish boot straps and continue on their way.  It was so much fun to be a part of that.

new york public libraryAfter some shopping, we made our way to the New York Public Library for some light reading (jk sight seeing)  The architecture was impressive and although the main reading room was closed (apparently a part of the ceiling fell off) it was still worth seeing.

Grand Central Station was beautiful and all that we had hoped it would be.  You could spend an entire day admiring the architecture.  Also, the ceiling is painted light blue with the constellations which is a must see… however I don’t recommend you trying to look up at it while walking.   There’s a really neat NYC subway gift shop that sells all sorts of trinkets that’s called New York Transit Museum. You will miss it if you’re not looking for it, but it’s definitely worth going in. Also, there’s the “whispering gallery” right outside the Oyster Bar.  It’s a passage way where the acoustics from the tiles in the ceiling allow the sound to travel in such a way that if you’re standing at one corner and whisper, another person (standing at the opposite corner) can hear it clearly.  We got a kick out of it!
Also on the west side of the balcony is Michael Jordan’s The Steak House N.Y.C.

In the lower level, theres the dining concourse with a plethora of foods to choose from.  Oh sweet shake shack! Also, there’s a really prestigious lounge The Campbell Apartment which serves specialty cocktails and makes you feel like you’ve stepped into the 20’s. If you go, there’s a dress code so makes sure you don’t show up post bikeride like we did.

Later that day, we made our way over to Central Park for some biking.  The first time we visited Central Park, we biked our way the entire park and loved it so much that we knew we had to do it again.  I was secretly hoping to run into a celebrity and I managed to look at every person that ran past me in the face hoping to catch a glimpse of Taylor or Meryl. No go.  central park nyc

cental park nyccentral parkThe guys were a little reckless with the bikes which led to Alex towing Jorge and Elias towing Jorge’s bike for about 10 blocks. Not fun.    This little gem was a recommendation from Corina’s uncle (who lives in Harlem).  Red Rooster is right next to the legendary Silvias and it’s Marcus Samuelsson’s second restaurant. We showed up on a Tuesday (latin night) and were greeted with salsa lesson at the door and live salsa while we ate.
This was pretty cool! We had a chance to meet Marcus Samuelsson.  Ale and Orlando spotted him and he was so kind to take a few pictures with all of us.

If you go, order the chicken wings, the shrimp and grits, and if you can swing it, the ribs!!!! Also, try and find a seat on the bar high tables next to the kitchen.  It made the experience 10x better!
