THURSDAY THOUGHTS + A HANDSOME BOY

This little boy has stolen my heart. He’s the sweetest baby who is incredibly patient with all of us and smiles from ear to ear when you catch his attention. He’s almost six months and just about ready to sink his gums into some of his grandmas chicken. I can’t believe how fast he’s growing. He’s rolling over, and doing the reverse crawl like it’s his job. It’s funny how relaxed one becomes with a second child. My mother-in-law and I were recently reminiscing on all of the notes and checklists we had for Grace (and by we, I meant this tightly wound mom). I documented all of Grace’s poops, naps, cries… I was so paranoid. I wanted badly to not mess up. Haddon is proof that we’re growing and that our confidence in our ability to be parents has increased immensley. It’s a good thing I think. It gives me a sense of peace and comfort knowing that we’re experienced. Seasoned. Not perfect, but we’re able to enjoy him so much more without being so worried all the time!

Things around our neck of the woods have changed so much in the past few months. Ale’s job is taking off and I’m finally working part-time which allows me to spend more time with my babies. We’re also slowly transitioning into “pre-homeschooling” and setting up a more consistent schedule. I’m praying for confidence in this area because honestly it scares me to death and the thought of being completely responsible for my children’s education is a lot to take on. I know it’s being done all over the country and I know we’re going to be just fine but figuring out where to start is overwhelming.

We’ve set goals for the summer and they are proudly being displayed on our refrigerator as a daily reminder and nudge to remain diligent. They mainly reflect our need for Christ, community, health and family time. We’re hoping that by writing them down, however prehistoric it might be, we’ll stay on track.

My 29th birthday is coming up and I’m making a “before I’m 30 bucket list.” There’s not much on it at the moment, but I’m really praying and pursuing some serious goals here one of which is to read! I started a new book today The Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan. It’s been on my reading list for quite some time and I snatched it from my brother’s library. My hope is to finish it this summer. Reading is not usually one of my top priorities because diaper changing is… but I’m hoping to change that. Also I’ll take book recommendations if you have any!!

Ale and I are both off this week and are incredibly excited about finally making it to church on Sunday. Can I get an amen?! When you work weekends, you sure miss out on being with a congregation and sharing with other believers. We need community so badly.

Lastly, I’m listening to John MacArthur’s study on Philippians and it has blessd me tremendously. The first chapter focuses on joy and the importance of finding joy in Christ regardless of our circumstances and trials. Here’s the first teaching for you and a family that’s living out joy in the midst of a huge trial. Would you help me pray for Ollie? Thanks!!!

I’ve probably gone to church 10 times in the last year. Sheesh! I do have the next several Sundays off. Yay! Are you planning on homeschooling? Maybe I already knew this but I was homeschooled and I give my parents a lot of credit. I don’t know if I’d have the patience for it. haha.

Hi there! I find it very encouraging that you’re considering homeschooling your kiddos! My hubby & I are considering the same thing and it also terrifies me that my kids’ education may be left up to me! But I think there are so many great benefits of homeschooling that kids don’t necessarily get in a traditional school setting. I know whatever decision you make for your family it will be a good one, but please continue sharing. Would love to hear what you guys decide to do! 🙂
