Healthy Living: Young Living Essential Oils

My sisterinlaw Sam is my go-to person when it comes to healthy living. Her and her family have had to battle with food allergies and as a result, she has embraced a more natural approach to everyday living. Currently she is immersing herself in the world of essential oils and has been sharing with me a few of her everyday oil uses. Today I’m sharing a few daily uses for Young Living’s Lavender Essential Oil. Enjoy!

Lavender Essential Oil is one of the most versatile oils we have, and it’s super easy to use! Drop some lavender in your favorite lemonade or tea, or add one drop to your mascara to repair those lashes!

Here’s a lavender mix we use daily in our house:

  • 4 Tbs (2 oz) of Organic unrefined, cold-pressed Coconut Oil.
  • 5-10 drop of Young Living Lavender Essential Oil
  • 1 capsule of Vitamin E oil (Poke a hole and squeeze)
  • 1- 2 oz Jar

Add ingredients to the jar and mix!

Coconut oil is antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal, and has many health benefits for you, (just google it!).

Lavender is a natural anti-inflammatory, relaxer, sleep inducer, and mood enhancer.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant and a moisturizer. Together, this combination is a power house!

Here are some of the ways you can use this mix:

Puffy Eyes
– Use your ring fingers to rub some cream above your eyebrows, and below your eyes. (Try to avoid getting too close to your eyes).

Eye Makeup Remover– To quickly take off makeup, rub some of the mix on your eyes, and use a towel and water to wipe it off.

Moisturizer– Apply all over your face! Wait at least 10 minutes before applying makeup, as you want to let the oils absorb. No body wants a greasy face!

Chapstick– one of my favorite uses, and much healthier for you than most chapsticks.

Baby’s butt– natural and safe butt cream to help prevent diaper rash, and alleviate minor rashes.

Sunburn– Put this in the freezer for a couple of minutes. Then lather it all over the burn, ahhhh. Keep applying throughout the day until the burn is gone.

General Burns– helps to reduce inflammation, and helps to prevent blistering. Keep applying throughout the day until the burn is gone.

Sleep Inducer– Rub on the back of the neck, temple, and bottoms of the feet. (For babies & toddlers, I recommend only using 5 drops of Lavender).

Cuts & Bruises- Calms the skin, and prevents infections. Also calms the crying baby 🙂

Cramps– Rub the mix over your stomach, legs, or back, then cover with a warm towel. Repeat as needed.

Fevers– Helps reduce fevers in children. Rub the mix on their feet, along with one drop of Peppermint.

Ear Aches– rub the mix on the back of the ears to help prevent an ear infection.

These are some of the ways Lavender has benefited our household, and this is by no means an all inclusive list!
