TINY DANCER | GRACE’S RECITAL

Last week we packed up our minivan and had our first family outing. It definitely was one for the books!  Grace had her fall recital (her first recital EVER) and we were all equal amounts of nervous and excited for her.   She has been asking us to put her in dance class for about a year now and after watching her very moving dance rendition of THIS IS ME, Alex and I finally caved.  I almost wish we would have done it sooner because she is not only a natural at it but she also loved every minute of it.

Alex and I are trying to study our kids’ talents and natural abilities so that we can do our best to nurture them.  Grace is for sure an artist of some sort.  She’s always performing, singing and putting on a show for all of her brothers and sister.  For the past few months, she has been taking ballet and tap classes at our local YMCA and had the best time making friends, giggling and learning from someone other than me.  I think it was so good for her because she’s a social butterfly and a homeschool kid, which is not usually the best combo.  She looked forward to chatting away with kids that were not related to her and it gave us an opportunity to see her interact with different types of personalities.

She did amazing!  Alex and I laughed, cried and along with grandma, did our best to keep the other three kids engaged and as quiet as possible.  Here are a few of our pictures…

This was her face the whole time! She was beyond excited!

There was a point in the routine where they pretended to fall asleep.  Of course, we thought the routine was over and then they jumped up with the “WE GOT YOU!” face… it was priceless.

Oh gosh, this was so much fun. We’re probably going to slow down on the ballet until it gets a little warmer because I don’t know if I have the courage to haul four kids in the snow! So we’ll probably try again in the spring!
