SUMMER BREAK

We are taking a much-needed break from all the structure around here and living it up this summer.  The kids are working on a little bit of summer school to keep their minds nice and sharp and ready to take on first grade and pre-k Gosh, time sure is flying.

Alex’s mom was in town last week and we took her to all of our favorite hangs.  We hiked, ate and swam all day long. We had big plans to go out and visit our local outdoor community pool, but it was closed for the day so we detoured to our YMCA. The water was nice and warm and we pretty much had the entire pool to ourselves.

Grace is really getting the hang of swimming and diving and doing all the mermaid things. Haddon and Emory are using puddle jumpers and it’s the cutest thing.  Haddon tries his hardest to “swim” while using the puddle jumpers and gets slightly frustrated when he realizes that he’s not moving.  Emory is fearless.  She walks towards the deep end and tiptoes all the way until she feels herself floating. Then she flops herself onto the water and hopes for the best.  She’s so brave and daring, I  can’t wait to see how far that will take her.  I know she’s going to climb all the mountains and I can’t wait to have a front-row seat.

We are planning a family road trip next week to Utah and can’t wait to see our friends and enjoy the outdoors as a family. In the meantime, this is where you’ll probably find us!

Here are a few pictures from our time.

Long live summer friends!
