WHOLE 30 COMP. KETCHUP

I think one of the reasons so many people are afraid of doing a whole 30 or cutting out preservatives from their diets, is because they feel like they are going to miss out on their everyday staples.  What’s a burger with no ketchup? or a BLT on Lettuce with no mayo? When we set out to start a whole 30 lifestyle, we wanted to recreate those staples that we love so much but clean them up and continue to feed our bodies good nutritious whole foods.  We also wanted to make sure our meals were packed with flavor and didn’t leave us disappointed.

Enter our home made ketchup!!!!

It’s tangy, sweet and everything you want your ketchup to be (without all of the weird additives and corn syrup)

So… if you’re firing up the grill or baking your favorite crispy potatoes… this is the ketchup recipe you have been waiting for!

Whole 30 Ketchup

Ingredients

6 oz tomato paste

8 large medjool dates (pitted)

3/4 cups of water

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon of lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

Directions

In a medium pot bring all of the ingredients to a low simmer for 2 minutes and mix until well combined. The dates should soften

Pour the mixture in a high powered blender (I use my Vitamix because it’s a beast!) and blend until completely creamy

Pour into a air tight container and cool completely

Serve with all your favorites!

*This recipe is for a thicker sauce than the store-bought stuff.  If you want a thinner consistency, you can add a little water
