SUMMER DAYS + READING TOGETHER

These long summer days have been so good for our family.   After spending all day outdoors running around, playing with all the water toys and hitting up all of our local parks, our nights always include a lot of family time.  These days, after we’ve all washed up and are ready for bed, we all have snack time and spend some time reading together.  Alex has been reading a few different books with the kids. They’re really into The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe and books that ask them to flip open different tabs.  The kids are really getting a kick out of the story and I am just loving the fact that we’re all spending so much quality time together. Grace is getting to the point where she’s one step ahead trying to guess what’s going to happen next.  Haddon asks questions about the meaning of certain words and Emory gets a kick out of seeing the pictures.  It’s really sweet.  We are really enjoying this time together and taking it all in before the business of fall kicks in.
When I was a little girl, I remember my parents reading to us.  My mom would sit us all down and we’d listen patiently to the story while we anticipated what the characters would do next.  It’s such a sweet memory and I sure hope my kids remember these long summer nights.
Alex and I really try and incorporate reading into routines. We both believe in the importance of reading and raising kids who love to read as well. Today, I am so excited to tell you about the Kellog’s and Scholastic free book program at Target.  It’s a really neat program where you can redeem points when you purchase Kellog’s back to school promotional products and trade them for books to keep or to donate to a school.
Check out the full list of participating products here and you can pick them up on your way to Target!
We like Kellog’s products and appreciate that they value literacy as much as we do.  We also can’t get enough of their Kellogg’s® Eggo® Mickey Mouse Waffles while we read through our morning devotionals.  On days that we’re having our afternoon snack, I sometimes grab Pringles® Snack Stacks which are fun on-the-go snacks for the kids and I.
Ok, so here’s how it works:
  • Redemption is easy on FeedingReading.com!
  • Buy any participating Kellogg’s products by 9/30/18 (like Nutri-Grain bars, Townhouse Crackers or Keebler Cookies)
  • Take a picture of your receipt(s) with qualifying purchases. Log in to Kellogg’s Family Rewards® and upload your receipt. Each receipt must be submitted separately and within 30 days of purchase.
  • Get credit to redeem for a book of your choice to keep or donate. Credits must be redeemed by 12/18/18. Limit of 10 books per participant.
Check out the Kellogg Family Rewards site for full promotional details
That’s it! Super easy and so rewarding knowing that 1 box = 1 book for the back to school program.
