Sometimes I get a glimpse of her face and see something I’ve never seen before. A new birthmark, or a new way of smiling or even a new joke she just learned. She’s constantly changing and learning new things. Yesterday she asked me about marriage and how two people first become friends, then love each other and then they get married. She also asked me what happened to the water after she drank it and if I could explain to her how our bones work. She’s learning to appologize for wrong choices and I catch her praying and asking God to forgive her for sinning with absolutely no prompting from me. She has a moral compass and conviction and goodness her prayers at night leave me sobbing. She prays for all of her cousins, for her grandparents, for the kids that don’t have mommies and daddies and asks God to give us strength and wisdom to make good choices.
I think back to the day when she opened the fridge all on her own (for the first time), grabbed a juice box and sat on the couch with me so nonchalant. Like she’s been doing it her whole life. That was the moment when I realized we didn’t have a baby in our midst anymore. That’s when I realized that Alex and I were no longer alone in our little apartment. We were a family of three. She’s my right hand girl, mama hen to her brother and sister and my best little girlfriend.
Last week, Free Babes Handmade sent us a couple of bows from their Holiday 2016 collection and Grace and I fell inlove with them. They really outdid themselves this year with the fabric, print and craftsmanship. Also, any package that has gold confetti and a personalized note is the perfect way to bring in the holidays.
Also, check out their website… it’s snowing on there!!!
She is precious! I love the pink nail polish!
