I’m pretty sure this is the first birthday we’ve spent apart in the past 10 years and as a huge-over the top- lover of birthdays kind of wife, I have no idea what to do with myself.
I talked the kids into going to Chick-fil-a to celebrate dad’s birthday but then I realized that it’s not much of a celebration if he’s not present. I thought about getting balloons and calling him, but the kids would probably destroy them before he makes it home.
So… I’m out of really good ideas and here’s the best one I have…
A little love note
If you were here today…
- I’d sing you happy birthday from the moment you open your eyes to the moment you close them
- I’d make you the best breakfast you’d ever had and sit at the “big table” with the kids all around
- The kids and I would surprise you with handmade cards and would make it a point to show you how much you mean to us
- I’d sit in the basement with you and let you play the piano for as long as your heart desires, while the kids and I sing along to all of your favorite “Greatest Showman” numbers
- The kids and I would let you nap for as long as you’d like and be sure to wake you just in time for dinner
- We’d hug you, love on you and remind you that you are our #1 over and over
Oh Ale, I hope that you are having an amazing day today and that you know how much we appreciate you, love you and are blessed to have you in our lives. After all these years I still can’t believe that you are mine and that I get to be loved by you.
You are our absolute favorite person and we all can’t wait to see you and have a birthday re-do,
Happy birthday!
