HIKING + WINTER SKIN

Winter has officially shown up in Texas. I never thought I’d say this, but I am really enjoying the chilly air that sends us all indoors to drink hot cocoa and cuddle up on the couch. After living in Nebraska for two years, shoveling snow and feeling a never-ending winter, I never thought I would crave the coziness of winter, but I do. I crave all of it and I’m so excited it’s finally here!

I’m teaming up with Remedy Dermatology Series Moisturizing Body Lotion to share a little bit about how I keep my skin moisturized during the cooler months.

Receive $3 in Extrabucks at CVS when you spend $10 on Remedy Dermatology Series from 12/15-12/21. Just click here.

One thing I really like during the cooler months is to get outdoors and go on hikes. I lace up my hiking shoes, grab my backpack and hit the trails. There are a few trails behind our neighborhood that really shine this time of year. They are close to a lake and all of the leaves dance above me dressed up in beautiful red, orange, and yellow. It really is a sight to see.

As the temperatures begin to drop, there are a few things that I have to change in my daily routine to help me cope with the drier weather. I realize that moisture is one of the first things to go, so I really have to find products that help me supplement. These days, I’m using Remedy Dermatology Series Moisturizing Body Lotion because it supports my skin’s natural defenses, and protects me from moisture loss or up to 24 hours. I use the moisturizing body lotion before I throw on my hiking gear and I also bring it with me while I am out. The non-greasy formula absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving it soft, smooth, and rich—allowing my skin to feel strong and elastic. I also like that they come in different sizes that make it easy for me to place them around my home and in my hiking bag.

I like to make sure I bring chapstick and hand warmers with me, all of which I pick up at CVS because of their convenient locations and prices.

Hiking has been so good for both my mental and physical health, and every personality test I take, for some reason, ties my personality to the outdoors. Being in nature, feeling the unpaved ground beneath my feet and breathing in the crisp, clean unadulterated air gives me life. It awakens my senses, allows me to step away from my thoughts and embrace the reality that the world is so much bigger than the four walls in our home. I feel like hiking, and the outdoors in general, really bring clarity, help me to stay grounded, and helps me to reset.

Here’s to healthy, glowing skin and here’s to getting outdoors this season!
