^^ Over the past couple of weeks, Ale and I have been working on getting back in shape. He’s doing a great job and I… well I’ve been downing sweets like it’s nobody’s business. I have officially declared 9pm to be “mommas dessert time” and everyone (except for my two babes) are welcome. Maybe once I start working I’ll jump back on the weight loss bandwagon and push to lose the last 10 pounds. For now, I’ll just enjoy my 9pm ice cream topped with semi sweet chocolate chips, bananas and chocolate chip cookies bites ^^^^ Speaking of sweets, Grace is really into frozen yogurt and has been asking for it constantly. We finally gave in and took her to our local yogurt land. The whole drive down there she kept asking for marshmallows to put on top of her pink ice cream. Although we try to encourage her towards topping her yogurt with fruit, the mallows are usually the first to go. Also, i’m really enjoying the ergo baby carrier. I haven’t fully mastered the art of baby carrying, but it seems like it’s going to be my baby transportation of choice ^^
^^ We’ve managed to make it to church as a family of four a few times now. It’s a little embarrassing to say that we don’t make it every Sunday, but Ale works and I have a hard time with both kids by myself. It would help if Gracie liked being in the nursery, but she cries her eyes out every time we try to leave her and I feel terrible having to pick up a swollen faced little girl. Any mommas out there with tips on making it through church with two little ones? ^^
^^ I’m partially blaming my weight gain on this ganache chocolate cake from the fresh market. It’s one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve ever had and I’ve proven to myself that I can devour the whole cake in just a few days. The flowers were a sweet gift from my sister-in-law’s mom. She thought I could use something to brighten up my home and she was right! They were so lovely and made being cooped up at home that much sweeter ^^
^^ We found a neat little donut shop close to our house called yonutz. On Valentine’s Day we shared a few donuts with our favorite Valentine before he headed off to work. If you go, the bacon and maple donut is outstanding and the coconut donut is a close second ^^ ^^ Last week I was pretty sick with an infection that knocked me down for three days straight. I wish I could say I enjoyed the rest, but I was miserable. I am however, very grateful for my mom and mother-in-law who watched our kiddos while Ale worked on getting my temperature down. Thank God I’m all better now and thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers on Instagram ^^
^^Leading up to valentines day, Ale and I headed down to the beach for dinner at Steak 954. It was the first date we’ve been on since the baby was born and we had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding and it was so nice to hang out… just the two of us. We also blasted our car stereo, forgot how to act in public and took an embarrassing amount of selfies ^^
I hope everyone had a wonderful February. I’m starting work this week and Ale is starting school really soon so our days of fun are officially over. Here’s to no more sick days and to babies who sleep for more than two hours straight!
mama’s dessert time?? love it. ๐
Yes, going to church with littles is so hard!! (my one year old is a beast in church!!) My advice: keeping going! It’s sooo important! And also the consistency is good for the girls. We don’t have a nursery, but bring our kiddos into church with us.
There are quite a few encouraging posts out there, but I came across this one last week:

Good luck on heading back to work. I can’t even imagine all the logistics that have to take place. You look great in that green dress. Give yourself some grace….we all need some ice cream now and then. ๐
you look great!
honestly, i think families with little ones deserve trophies every time they make it to church (ha! not that we deserve rewards for going to worship — don’t think about that one too much!)
i was on staff at my church before having my first child, and when we went to our first service with him, the pastor walked up to us and my husband was like, “we’re so sorry we’re late!” and my pastor laughed and said, “we’re just so glad to see you made it.”
that’s been my mindset since then. we might be tired, late, harried…but when we can make it we’re glad to be there.
my non-professional advice? take it a week at a time. soon it’ll be much easier. this is just a phase, it’s not your forever. if you have to skip a few sundays, that’s better than being frustrated, impatient, etc.
