STEADY MOTHERHOOD | SAM & CORINA

There are a few women that I have the privilege of doing life with.  They are my cheerleaders, my sounding boards, and role models.  I love these women and their babies, and admire how they have embraced motherhood to the fullest.  These ladies encourage me to be a better mom and are often the ones I turn to when I need a shoulder to cry on and the ones who love me enough to tell me when I need to reevaluate a decision I’ve made.

They are my tribe.

They are the ones I get to hold hands with and the ladies who shape my life.

I am and forever will be grateful for them.

Corina and Samantha,

Thank you for commitment to God, your family and for being my friend. Happy mother’s day!

They were both kind enough to share their thoughts on motherhood with us… and today, I get to share Sammy’s (stay tuned for Corina’s!)

Steady Motherhood | Samantha (Sam)

How long have you been a stay at home mom and to how many kids?

I’ve been a SAHM to Ellie (6), Simon (4), and Selah (18m) since June 2015, when I switched from public school to virtual education.

If you could describe your parenting style in one word, what would it be?

Flexible.

If you could offer some advice to a brand new stay at home mom, what would it be?

Have grace for the moments when plans go out the window, and remember that every spilled drink is an opportunity to mop the floors πŸ˜‰

What’s your one tip for getting your day started on the right foot?

Wake up before the kids and have your morning time. And for the seasons when they’re waking you up (like an infant in the middle of the night), serve yourself a big cup of grace-filled coffee, and have your quiet time in the mid-morning, or afternoon. If your coffee gets cold, add ice and pretend you wanted iced coffee.

Do you have any book/movies/pod-cast/IG feeds recommendations to help us on our journey?

Podcasts: Risen motherhood, and revive our hearts.

Books: The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson, The kindness Antennae by Julie Brasington, Managers of their homes by Terri Maxwell (Titus 2 ministries), Practicing Affirmations by Sam Crabtree, The Miracle Morning for Parents and Families by Hal Elrod, Simplified life by Emily Ley,

IG: Happy home fairy, Sally Clarkson, The Humbled Homemaker, Busytoddler, withlove_tere πŸ˜‰

If you had one whole day all to yourself what would it look like?

Mani & Pedi, OB House breakfast, and laying on a lounge chair at the beach with the 4,000 books I’ve been meaning to read/finish. Ha.

What do you enjoy most about being a stay at home mom?

I love being able to talk with them throughout the day, affirm their God-given characteristics, instruct them in the way of the Lord, protect them, care for their boo boo’s, potty train, read classic novels during lunch, cuddle on my bed at 2pm (while I should be working), and teach them the responsibility of school work and chores. Just being able to walk through life with them has been such a blessing.

I also love the flexibility. If we want to cancel plans, go to the park and have a tea party, we do. If we want to go for a stroll through the Everglades, we do. If we want to bring a family some mid-morning treats, we do. Being home with my kids allows us to be flexible with our schedules, or structured. Whatever we’re needing for that day!
