I like to start the year with a hair refresh. All of the heat and products really do a number on my hair and sometimes a little TLC makes me feel like I’m ready to take on the year! This year, I’m using Revlon® ColorSilk Beautiful ColorTM Soft Black and I’m cutting my bangs (again!).

ColorSilk is infused with keratin, it’s ammonia free, it’s super simple to use. I start off by parting my hair in four sections and then I follow the simple instructions where I mix the hair dye, apply evenly through all sections, let sit for 25 minutes and then wash off.
I really like that ColorSilk freshens up my color, provides 100% gray coverage and it’s available at all all major retailers nationwide!
The first time I dyed my hair, I was 17. I remember feeling so cool thinking that I was finally doing grown up things. I got highlights and they looked hideous, but I was so happy. I then proceeded to dye my hair red, all super dark black and I even permed it once. Gosh the things you think are cool when you’re young.
These days, I like to stick with my natural color as much as possible. Once in a while I’ll venture out and go a lighter brown or even super dark black. Either way, I really like how the darker tones go well with my skin tone. Maybe one day I’ll try something a little more daring, but for now, dark shades are my preference.
Now on to the bangs. Before I got married, I gave myself drastic cuts. I loved a bob, a lob, and even heavy set of bangs. I loved changing it up and because my hair grows really fast I could have a new hair do every 6-12 months. These days, Alex really likes my long hair so I’ve had to resort to changing it up by cutting and shaping my bangs. I’ve done it so many times, that I’ve learned to shape them the way I like them. I start by pulling out the section of hair that I want to work with. Then I clip them at an angle using my nose as a guide and finishing up by my chin. The key is to go longer and then trim them to their final length.
This is always a fun refresh for me. I like how wispy bangs shape my face and having a fresh color by ColorSilk really makes me feel amazing. Here’s to fresh hair and new years!
