Summer goals 2016

Summer goals

Apparently Summer is here and I’m only slightly aware of it because tomorrow’s Grace’s “graduation” from pre-pre-K! Needless to say, we’re all incredibly excited to see her accept her handwritten diploma/computer printed certificate.  Really. We have a dress picked out and both grandmas and I have been practicing the wave.  We’re hoping other parents in the audience catch on… but even if they don’t… we’ll stand and reach our arms as embarrassingly high as we can. Because after all, one graduates from pre-pre-k but once in their lifetime.

Someone (you know who you are!) told Grace we’re having a graduation party and now she’s expecting us to deliver. I’ll probably just take her out for some fro-yo and give her a tough life lesson on disappointments. We’ll see…

We’re also welcoming Summer with the rising FL temperatures AND a brand new baby.  That’s right… our sweet baby #3 should be arriving within the next couple of weeks just in time to truly enjoy all that Florida heat has to offer. And because I am a type-A planner of all things, I thought it would only be appropriate to make our Summer goal list.

2016 Summer goals

  • Finish reading Wild and Free by Jess Connolly & Hayley Morgan and The Meaning of Marriage by Tim Keller
  • Have a baby… obviously
  • Blog at least once a week
  • Get back into an exercise routine (after medical clearance of course)
  • Cut back on sugar and empty calories… or focus on eating “whole”
  • Plan out my summer-homeschool curriculum two weeks in advance
  • Rest. When I can, for as long as I can and whenever I can
  • Daily prayer with Alex (regardless of how crazy our days are)
  • Find a new way to serve the women in my life
  • Get “ready” for my 30th birthday… eek!

That’s it… simple right?  Now if we get a chance to get out of the house and make it to the beach, I’ll call our summer a success! I’m hoping to come back in September and see how we did.

Do you make summer goal lists?? Are you even slightly aware that it’s summer… or did it just hit you in the face like FL’s oh-so-inviting humidity?  Summer is a great time to rest in the Lord, but also an opportunity to tie a few lose ends that have gotten away from us throughout the year… like honing down on our eating.

Would you join me in prayer this summer? Would you help me pray for rest and for renewed strength and direction? Let’s get things done… yea? and lets lean on Christ together!

Happy summer goal-ing friends!
