i grew up loving the month of august. my family celebrates at least three birthdays (my birthday being one of them) with three massive cakes, party hats, music and lots and lots of food. we still have birthday cake in our fridge! it’s a beautiful three layer dulce de leche cake that calls my name every night around 9pm and of course i answer… because it’d be rude not to. the month of august was also primetime for fun in the sun. my brothers and i would sleep in till our heart desired, visit fort lauderdale beach and get lost planning our next adventures.
these past few days have been incredibly hot in florida but we’ve managed to soak in the summer rays and enjoy time as a family, much like the old days. here are a few snippets from this past month.
^^i’ve been elbows deep in fresh limeade ALL summer long. i’m not sure if it’s the pregnancy or the south florida heat but i’ve been craving the sweet and tangy taste of limade^^
^^i’m working on keeping the weight gain to a minimum so i’ve been squeezing in some daily yoga time. i don’t think my efforts are working (maybe the cake to blame) but i can still see my toes and that makes me happy^^
^^gracie and i have been spending a lot of time together lately drinking fruit smoothies and shopping for ray ban sunnies. she likes to hit our cups together and say “cheers” just before we drink up^^
^^my sweet momma and i have also spent a lot of time together, talking about the new babe and grabbing lunch at a few of our favorite spots. i love our relationship right now. last week, my brother asked me if i remembered the last time my mom and i had an argument and i honestly could not recall a time (maybe when i was 21?) i think being a mom has changed my perspective about being a daughter. i have so much respect and admiration for my momma. i want to grow up to be her in so many ways! ^^
^^we have a strict no makeup rule for grace and she knows it, but she’s always testing her limits. she asks for stickers on her nails and chapstick on her lips because obviously neither are considered “makeup.” she cracks me up!^^
^^last week we heard our babe’s heart beat for the first time and ale didn’t make it out to the car before he started to celebrate^^
^^dinner out at shula’s with the newly weds. congratulation elias and corina. if you go, try the scallops… they’re outstanding!^^
^^last weekend, we took a quick trip over to ocala, Florida. it was my first time sitting next to this beauty on our drive. we sung every song in the book and read all the books that would fit into her backpack 10x each! i can recite about 3 of them with my eyes closed and my hands behind my back!^^
^^we’ve had these bikes for a few months now and we LOVE going out for family bike rides. summer is hot in florida, so we make it a point to get out of the house before 9am. we pack a backpack full of water and snacks and take off. more often than not, we stop at starbucks for a venti ice water and a mozzarella and tomato panini. sometimes i even get a coffee out of the deal!^^
^^bath-time shenanigans are my favorite! she’s wanting us to wrap her in the towel and call her “gracie baby.” she’s getting heavy too… but we do it… because she’s a cutie^^
^^when the sun is too hot we run for cover (as most floridians do). most of the time our days “in” consist of a family breakfast at panera and story time at barnes and noble. gracie is into the frozen movie and she finds their book/ toys and the snowman EVERYWHERE!!! which is weird because she’s never seen the movie. i pretend to read the book and just look through the pictures with her. we both get a kick out of it!^^
august… you’ve been good to us. thanks!
What a beautiful family you have! 🙂
