when my sister-in-law sammy asked if i would take a few pictures of her family, i jumped at the opportunity. not only are they ALWAYS willing to serve our family with a kind a cheerful spirit, but they are all such good looking people. also, i’ve been wanting to play with a new editing software that ale bought for us recently and i knew that any picture with these four in it would turn out great!
we met up at their house and took a two minute drive to riverwalk in downtown fort lauderdale. the scenery was so pretty and it was early, so there weren’t too many locals hanging around.
i thought i’d share the pictures and three practical things that i learned during this shoot (for my blogging friends):
- start early- the sun is brutal in florida making it very difficult to capture a shot without sweat drops or an uncomfortable look on the “model’s” face. the earlier, the better.
- bug spray- critters make it very difficult to stand for any amount of time. also it’s not easy swatting mosquitos off your legs while holding a camera
- group pictures first- i’m usually taking pictures of recipes i’ve tried or of my own family and i’m not used to photographing any more than two at a time. i realize now that people get tired and cranky the longer they have to wait their turn to take a picture and most of the time their frustration shows in their facial expression. it’s best to start with the group shot and then move to individuals.
thanks sammy and jorge for letting me spend some time with you and your lovely kiddos. lets do it again soon. ya? ok great!
p.s: great time to visit fort lauderdale riverwalk is early during the day in the winter time (less mosquitoes and incredible weather). it’s also very serene and perfect for those who like nice views while they run. also, you can eat breakfast at the O.B House (one of our favorite breakfast places) and take the kiddos to the fort lauderdale museum of discovery and science.
Beautiful Beautiful family. Your daughter and son are so lovely! Does she follow mommie’s fashion? Love the pale pink dress on you and the location
