I go on 42 errands with my kids every single week. From the grocery store to the home improvement store, they are with me every single moment of every day. I love them, gosh I love being with them, but there are some things that are so much more difficult with kids in tow. Like going to Sam’s Club!
I’ve figured out a few tips along the way and we’ve honed down an amazing routine that keeps us focused and efficient while we’re at the store and today I’m sharing them with you!
1. Use the RxSavings Price Transparency Tool powered by America’s Pharmacy™ available at Sam’s Club – which allows me to fill my prescriptions while I shop, to save a little money and it’s one less stop I have to make with the kids.
This was especially helpful while we were sick last week. I had to drop a few prescriptions off and had to restock our fridge. I was able to do both things at once and make it home in time for soup.
I also like that it has generic prescriptions starting at $4. Most pharmacies charge the retail price for prescriptions for uninsured consumers. But it does not have to be that way. RX Savings powered by America’s Pharmacy helps us save up to 80%, and an average of 54%, on my prescriptions. I can also save on pet meds. I just show my Sam’s Club membership card or bring my America’s Pharmacy card or coupon (or electronic card) to a Sam’s Club pharmacist and it allows me to get the lowest price available through the program automatically.
2. Keep your membership card and paying method in your pocket – Having these easily accessible makes it so much easier to get in and out of the store without having to fumble through my diaper bag. When I’m trying to place items on the belt while checking out, digging through my diaper bag makes everything more complicated. Having these items on hand helps move things right along
3. Strap the kids in – keeping the kids strapped in the shopping cart keeps them from “distractions” and keeps us all focused. I use the bottom tray of the cart to carry our groceries and either carry Harry on a baby carrier or keep him in his car seat.
4. Get there early – I like to get there as soon as the store opens. The kids and I have most of the store to ourselves and it allows us to make our way through the aisles without crowds. Also, running errands with kids is best done before nap time.
Errands with kids don’t have to be daunting. In fact, it is totally doable and stress free if I prepare and with tools like the Price Transparency Tool.
