Ingredients

  • 3 cups watermelon, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 1 grapefruit, segmented and chopped
  • 2–3 tablespoons honey
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 4–5 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced (plus more for garnish)
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine the watermelon, strawberries, blackberries, and grapefruit.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lemon juice, and lemon zest until well combined.
  3. Pour the honey-lemon mixture over the fruit and gently toss to coat.
  4. Fold in the sliced basil and let the fruit sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Scoop vanilla ice cream into serving bowls or glasses.
  6. Spoon the fruit mixture generously over the ice cream, making sure to drizzle some of the naturally sweet juices over the top.
