There are a few months in the year where I get the chance to stop and reflect. They are slow weeks, where we are slowly closing the door to one season, but are not quite ready to open the door to the next. That’s where we are right now. Holding on to the structure that we have created over the summer but looking forward with so much excitement.
This month (much like the month of April) is a time of reflection for me. It’s my opportunity to count the fruit, take inventory, reflect on what I’ve learned and bask in the present season before it’s all gone. One way I like to do that is by making seasonal bucket lists and going through it, checking off all the things we’ve done and weighing the list of things we set out to do, against the time we have left. It’s a great practice that has allowed our family to live in the moment and enjoy where we are right now.
This past summer we found out we were pregnant and our original summer bucket list took a bit of a detour. However, we managed to fit in so many fun activities as a family and we are so thankful that we’ve gotten an opportunity to document them.
Here are a few of our summer adventures:
We welcomed summer at the zoo’s splash pad
We visited Utah’s national parks with our family
Visited a local carnival
Visited a local water park
Found the perfect bathing suit
Celebrated Emory’s birthday
Shared what having rights means to us and visited NE state capitol building
Hit our 9600 miles on the road with the kids
And today, I am sharing a few pictures of our last zoo visit for the summer. The weather was incredible, the flowers were all in full bloom, the sun was warm and shining bright and the kids were in an amazing mood.
In the midst of all of the green lush foliage and the warm sunshine, there was a cool breeze flowing through, reminding us all that we’re nearing the end of summer and that fall is right around the corner.
