We are really starting to settle into a smooth morning routine and I owe it all to the start of a new school year. Once back-to-school-season rolls around, everything has a new rhythm and things just start to fall into place when it comes to our schedule.
MORNING ROUTINES AND FINDING OUR RHYTHM
These days we are a little bit more intentional with our time and make it a point to carve out family time in the mornings as well as in the evenings. We set the intention of waking up early and we get ready for the day as a family. Most of the time, the kids will come in our room and we will get a chance to chat and talk about our day as well as help them get ready. Alex and I usually take turns pouring our coffee and preparing our diaper and work bags for the day. It has become a sort of dance for us.
On days when Alex is off of work, we make it a point to have a full family breakfast. It’s something that we really look forward to, but on the days where we are all rushing out of the house, we rely on quick and easy breakfast snacks that help us get moving on our day.
BelVita Soft Fill bars have become our breakfast on-the-go. They come in two flavors, strawberry and chocolate, and make for the perfect breakfast on the go. The kids always get really excited about having breakfast bars because they feel so grown up and I love that it pairs well with coffee, it’s absolutely satisfying, it’s filling and delicious. I say that’s a win!
I love seeing Alex fix Haddon’s hair. It’s such a sweet moment that they have to themselves and Haddon just gets so excited about spending time with dad.
Grace has been very particular about her hairstyles these days. She has been asking me to straighten her hair and has specific requests about her outfits for the day. I like to let her pick out her outfits and she always does such a great job.
Alex works about 25 minutes from home, so he’s usually out of the door before 8 am. I love that I can send him off with BelVita Soft Fill bars, coffee and he is all set for his commute to work.
I also sneak a few of them in my backpack for an afternoon snack. They’re so good and I pick them up at my local Walmart.
I’m really happy with how things are moving these days. It’s never easy with four kids but I think it’s so important to find a family rhythm and I really think we’re finding it! Here’s to getting things done, to breakfast on-the-go and to finding new rhythms!
