SNOW AND FALL LEAVES

We welcomed our first snow of the season this past weekend and it was the most magical thing I’ve ever seen.  It’s still fall, which means the leaves are still on the trees and they’re showing off the most incredible colors.  To top it all off, they were all dusted with the softest and prettiest snowfall.  It was as if fall and winter shared a kiss and we got a front row seat.

After church, I dressed the kids in their snow gear and packed them all in the good ol’ minivan because this was something worth seeing up close.  We headed down to our local park and watched the trees, the birds and my kiddos play till their noses and cheeks rosied up.  They threw snowballs, made snow angels and ran around without a care in the world. It so good for all of us.  We finished off the afternoon with warm chicken soup and chocolate chip cookies.  Although Alex didn’t get a chance to enjoy it with us, when he got home from work, there was the nicest love note written on the snow that could only be seen from the kids’ room.  He wrote “I -heart- you” on the snow and it was the sweetest surprise for all of us.  It was by far, the best day of the year!

This little guy is working on his “sneaky” skills, which lead to me carrying a pound of snow in my boot and a frozen heel.

This picture sort of reminds me of Narnia.

Emory hasn’t figured out how to work around mittens so we’ve had to fold her body suit hand flaps around her little hands.  It made it difficult for her to hold on to the snow but she was nice and warm!

Grace has been looking forward to making snow angles for the past 6 months.  This was the first thing she wanted to do once she saw that it was snowing.

I love seeing her like this (my house that is).  Standing strong and covered in snow.

This was the snow-to-shoe situation I was referring to earlier
