SUMMER EVENINGS AT THE CARNIVAL

How are we almost done with August? Feels like I have been looking forward to this month for so long and once it arrived it just flew by.

One of the fun things that we have gotten a chance to do after moving to the Midwest has been attending seasonal festivals. This past summer we visited the carnival near our neighborhood. It has been years since I’ve gotten a chance to attend a carnival and this time around it was super special because we got a chance to do it with the kids!! There’s just something so special about experiencing life through their eyes.

A couple of weeks ago we attended Gretna days. A celebration of when our town was established. Grace was looking forward to having cotton candy for the first time and the kids flipped out when they saw all of the flags and rides that were available for them.

There were only about five rides that were age-appropriate for kids. Emory didn’t get a chance to ride any of them, but she ate her weight in cotton candy and ran around with an intense sugar rush. She had a blue stained tongue for two days!

This is such a fun stage for our family. We are experiencing a lot of firsts together with the kids and it has been so much fun for us. Alex and I always talked about taking our kids to summer and fall festivals when we lived in Florida, but it was always so hot and there weren’t many of them around.  This midwest life is certainly something I am quite fond of. We are really enjoying the change in seasons and embracing all of the festivals that come with it.

Below are a few of our pictures from the festival.

Here’s to a few more days of August friends!

This was Haddon’s and Grace’s first roller-coaster. I was a little bit concerned about their speed and the safety of the whole thing but from the look on their faces, it was pure joy. Grace was the first one who threw her hands up in the sky and screamed at the top of her lungs. Soon after a few other kids followed. Haddon didn’t quite get his arm stretched out fully, but it was the thought that counted.

These two spent a lot of time together. Alex made sure to pay her special attention and she didn’t get a chance to ride with her brother and sister.

Emory flipped out when she saw this massive teddy bear.  We let her run around him a bit and she loved it!

I love this picture so much.  Alex and I were trying so hard to take a sweet picture of the two of us and then Haddon ran in and photobombed it. It represents this season of our life so well.
