This is officially the first week of fall and everything is so lovely and starting to change. The kids are fully immersed in school, the air is slightly cooler, and the leaves are starting to turn. This is such an amazing season for us. We love fall and we love experiencing the shift firsthand. You can always find us outside when the season starts to change. We want to take part in the action that is taking place all around us. Sometimes it’s not so easy getting outdoors with a 1 year old but we really make it a point to try. Over the years, I’ve learned that by paying attention to our families’ rhythm, and planning around it, we can pretty much do anything! Today, I thought I would share with you a few of my tips on getting outdoors with your baby this fall.

  • Embrace the slow pace– One thing we have learned is that kids have a way of slowing everything down. Before we had kids, we were able to fit in 12 things in our day and tackle them all successfully. These days we have to be very strategic about what we’re adding to our plate and the commitments we are making.  Between potty breaks, naptime and all of the unexpected events that come from having children, what usually takes one hour can now take us three times as long. My tip is to slow down and to remember that sometimes, it’s more important to do one thing well than run around in circles.
  • Layer up – The cool weather has a way of coming and going without much warning. I like to dress everyone in layers and have a couple of cozy blankets just in case things get really chilly. On the other hand, I start with a really light onesie for Harry and take the layers off during the warmer part of the day.
  • Plan breaks – Breaks are essential with little ones. I’m all about packing our favorite snacks and sitting on the grass taking a minute to play and enjoy each other’s company. These days, we are enjoying the NEW Nature’s Heart products. These have organic ingredients and they’re non-GMO. They also have no added sugar; no artificial colors or flavors and beginning November, the pouches will be 100% recyclable through TerraCycle! Harry is loving all of the Nature’s Heart pouches, and I love that they are made with wholesome ingredients and that they’re so convenient to bring along with us. NEW Nature’s Heart products are made with only the best organic ingredients and packed with nutrition!  Harrison is getting so big and so smart. He knows where I stock his favorite snacks and you can always find him crawling to my pantry trying to get his hands on some.

You can pick up the NEW Nature’s Heart products at your local HEB!

Have a backup plan – for a long time, I only had a plan A. It was very determined to complete whatever task at hand regardless of my interruptions. These days I make sure that I also have a Plan B in motion.  Kids have a way of changing all of my plans and for that reason, I make sure to have a backup.
