This post is sponsored by Mommy’s Bliss, but all opinions are my own.
We love traveling with our kids. It’s something Alex and I have really embraced throughout the years and although it’s not easy with a family as big as ours, we all really look forward to spending that time together. This fall, we’ll be in Florida for a couple of weeks, then we head up to Virginia and D.C. Early next year we’re taking a trip to California where we hope to get some family hiking in. We’re all so excited about our upcoming travels. The kids have countdowns on their calendars and Alex and I have been busy booking flights and hotel stays.
I’ve shared before how we pack the kids for long trips, but I thought today I would share what I usually pack in my mom bag (or road trip carry-on). It’s my lifeline for traveling and everything in it has a purpose. I’m particularly excited to share more with you about the Mommy’s Bliss products that we use throughout the year for immune support.
What I pack in my road trip bag
First-Aid: I never leave the house without a good first-aid kit. With three little ones in tow, you never know when somebody is going to get their knees scratched, get a bug bite, or develop an allergy. In my first-aid kit I carry bandages, anti-itch cream, antihistamines, bug spray, and a few pain reliever capsules for Alex and I.
Supplements: Because traveling is tough on the kids (mainly on Harry), I like to bring along Mommy’s Bliss Organic Cough Syrup + Immunity Support and Mommy’s Bliss Organic Cough Syrup Night Time—both are perfect for his age and I know he’ll be comforted from the occasional cough or dry throat. Mommy’s Bliss Organic Cough Syrups are created with herbal extracts, agave, and honey, and elderberry to support the immune system. They also have no added sugar, no alcohol, no artificial flavors or colors, and they are free of the top 8 allergens. I’m also going to begin adding Mommy’s Bliss’ new Elderberry Gummies for the older kids because they provide the immune support they need.
As a mom, having healthy kids is a priority. I’ve been enjoying giving my kiddos Mommy’s Bliss Elderberry Gummies as of late, but will be working hard to stay consistent a few weeks before heading out on our travels. The elderberry helps support their immune systems and it gives me peace of mind knowing that they have great defenses for travel. My kids ask for them every day because they are delicious!
Wipes: I always take three types of wipes with me. I have disinfecting wipes, hand wipes for the kids, and an all-purpose baby/body wipe which comes in handy when the kids get super sweaty and we don’t have easy access to a shower. All of these serve a purpose from disinfecting the table at restaurants, to giving the kids wipe baths in the car, to cleaning up sticky hands.
Diapers and rash cream: These are a given. Harry is still in diapers and I make sure to carry a good amount with me. I also pack some with us in a suitcase that’s easily accessible if I need to stop and restock. Also, because we spend long hours in a car, I use rash cream to prevent any rashes that happens from sitting down for too long.
Snacks: I have two categories of car snacks—kid snacks and mom snacks (because some snacks are just for mom). I don’t usually bring things with too much salt because we’ll all want to drink a lot of water which leads to more frequent potty breaks. Fruit is a good option and granola bars with clean ingredients are a must as they keep us all full for longer periods of time. I also stay away from really sugary snacks as hyper kids in a minivan for hours at a time is not a great combination.
Change of clothes: Accidents can happen at any time. Because we usually eat and sleep in the car during long trips, someone is bound to spill something. I’ve learned that the cure for an apple juice spill is a change of shirt rather than trying to wipe things down. I also make sure to have extra undies for everyone just in case.
Towel: A towel comes in handy during every road trip we take. It’s there for spills, for water bottle showers, and as a pillow for when the kids awkwardly fall asleep in their car seat or the stroller. It also works as a changing pad or blanket—you really can’t go wrong with a towel.
Along with my own bag, the kids like to bring along their own backpacks. They’re becoming really good at packing things that they know they’ll need (like their headphones, notepads, and coloring books). I think it’s really neat to see them learn from their experiences and plan a little better each time.
Gosh, we’re really excited about the next few months. Alex and I really thrive on having a busy traveling schedule. We know that we’ll make a lot of memories and have a blast with our kids.
I’m particularly excited about bringing along Mommy’s Bliss products along with us because I know they’ll keep my kids’ immune systems strong and will allow us to have an amazing time while on vacation!
Do you guys have any travel plans coming up?
